A school is ultimately defined by the people who teach, guide and care for its learners. EHA’s teaching team covers the curriculum across the Intermediate and Senior phases, with subject responsibilities distributed according to the school timetable. Current staff reflected in the 2026 workload include:

• Emmarencia Magagula – English Home Language, English Reading and Life Orientation.

• Angeline Makamure – Mathematics.

• Rorisang Rabalago – Life Skills, Technology, Creative Arts and English Reading.

• Wikus van Graan (ISP Phase Head) – Mathematics and Social Sciences.

Across the school, teachers are expected to plan carefully, teach purposefully, assess consistently, keep learner work up to date and respond to areas where learners need additional support. Professional accountability and ongoing curriculum monitoring are important parts of EHA’s developing academic culture.

Foundation Phase (Grades 1-3)

This phase focuses on building the core foundational skills of literacy and numeracy .

• Home Language: The primary language of instruction .• First Additional Language: A second language is introduced from Grade 1 .• Mathematics: The foundation of numeracy and mathematical thinking .• Life Skills: This includes Beginning Knowledge, Creative Arts, Physical Education, and Personal and Social Well-being .

Intermediate Phase (Grades 4-6)

In this phase, subjects become more defined and formal assessments are introduced .

• Home Language • First Additional Language • Mathematics • Natural Sciences and Technology: This is a combined subject in this phase .• Social Sciences • Life Skills: This covers Creative Arts, Physical Education, and Personal and Social Well-being .

Senior Phase (Grades 7-9)

This phase marks the end of the General Education and Training (GET) band. The curriculum broadens and deepens, requiring learners to study a comprehensive set of nine subjects .
